My Major and Career Goals
Major Goals
Major : Exercise Science
I am currently majoring in exercise science, pre-physical therapy. What led me to choose to major in exercise science was the many sports i participated in and the numerous hours spent in physical therapy. I showed an interest in exercise science when I broke my ankle in gymnastics. During my senior year of high school, I had the chance to shadow at ATI Physical Therapy. That experience helped solidify that being a PT is something I see myself doing in the future. My ultimate goal with a degree in exercise science is to create a firm background so that I can make it into graduate school for physical therapy.
Career Goals
My main career goal is to become a pediatric physical therapist. More specifically, children with cerebral palsy. I chose this path because I want to be able to help children learn daily activities, such as walking or even standing up. Kids with cerebral palsy have a hard time with doing the daily activities that we do not have to think about doing. The second career choice is to become a pediatric occupational therapist. Like my main career choice, I would be working with kids who have cerebral palsy but focusing on their motor skills. I aspire to put a smile on, not only the kids face but also the parents face, when they accomplish a task that was once hard for the child or they thought they child could never accomplish.
